Heating Plus Protection Plan
Your new Heating Plus Protection Plan is effective for a one year period.
The Novel Care Heating Plus Protection Plan covers one of the following HVAC components: a natural gas furnace, a boiler, a space heater, an air handler, or another primary heat source such as a fireplace.
This coverage applies to a residence made up of 3 or fewer dwelling units. Unfortunately, components such as heat pumps and other equipment using conversation burners aren’t eligible for protection plan coverage.
Our Heating Plus Protection Plan takes care of the evaluation, repair, and replacement or adjustment of various problematic parts within your heating components and thermostats. Please note the exceptions indicated below. For parts and services included in the Heating Plus Protection Plan, you are exempt from all diagnostic, labour and part replacement costs.
Our coverage includes a 22-point annual inspection and complete cleaning of your heating appliance. This includes carbon monoxide testing. We will perform annual heating maintenance between February and August of your coverage year.
Flushing the heat exchanger and any additional cleaning resulting from insufficient maintenance prior to joining the Heating Plus Protection Plan are excluded from coverage. Boiler system drainage and refill are also excluded from the Heating Plus Protection Plan coverage. These additional services will be charged to the Heating Plus Protection Plan member at our standard rates.
If your thermostat fails, we will provide a replacement thermostat of a make and model of your choice, which operates in a similar way to the existing one. Your new thermostat make and model is also dependent on the current configuration of your heating, ventilation and /or air conditioning equipment. Zone thermostat controls and energy management controls are not covered by the Heating Plus Protection Plan.
The Heating Plus Protection Plan doesn’t cover ancillary equipment. This includes air conditioners, humidifiers, air cleaners, any other parts added to your main heating unit, or any necessary repairs required as a result of these additional components.
Novel Care technicians will attempt to find exact replacement parts or appropriate substitute parts as quickly as possible. Limited availability of certain parts can result in some delays, which will be communicated to you by a Novel Care technician or staff member.
In the unusual event that a part is no longer available or it can’t found at a reasonable cost, we will not be liable for the related replacement. In these instances, you or we may terminate coverage of the Heating Plus Protection Plan. If there has not been a prior service call paid by the Heating Plus Protection Plan member in the current coverage years, the annual fee will be refunded in full.
Damage resulting from the failure of replacement parts or Novel Care services under the Heating Plus Protection Plan are not the responsibility of Novel Care unless such damages result from the negligence of Novel Care or a Novel Care technician.

Our Heating Plus Protection Plan provides you with coverage for all parts within your heating unit as described in our Parts Covered section, this includes the heating unit casing and thermostat. The following exceptions apply: heat exchangers, heating coils (air handler), heating sections (boiler), firebox/combustion chambers, furnace filters, low and high water cut-off valves, and add-on parts necessary to accommodate ancillary equipment such as air conditioners and humidifiers. The complete replacement of your heating unit isn’t covered in our Heating Plus Protection Plan.
